Responds to any and all emergencies related to wildland fire within the CCFD#1’s jurisdiction and when requested by the Department of Natural Resources. Created in 2024 this group of specially trained firefighters are red carded and have attended classes taught by DNR officials and volunteers who have wildland firefighting expertise. The need was shown during the Bogachiel fire of 2023, our group of structure firefighters wore bunker gear and most had symptoms of heat exhaustion and all wished they could gain more knowledge of wildland firefighting to better public safety. With the help of the DNR we did just that and are proud to be called the Wildland Special Operations Team.
